Could technological possibility, not human needs be at the heart of much neurotech?

Very enjoyable talking at the European Brain Summit on Patient Centricity.
I focused my talk in three areas - my surprise at how patient centricity was not actually central in the treatment of neurological diseases and why that is; a discussion of the Scientific Method and how the failure to seek out sceptics and apply rigorous challenge to the hypothesis and so involve patients and other stakeholders is actually a failure of the scientific method. Then discussion about what could happen to rectify this in funding, in capacity building and generating better understanding of what meaningful engagement means.
This was the start of my collaboration with the Dana Foundation and the European Federation of Neurological Associations. On a research project on what Patient Centricity means and the creation of a framework for Meaningful Patient Involvement. More to come!
